After 1815, an exceptional successful period follows in the life of Johann Nepomuk Hummel, who lived from 1778-1837. He gets ovations during his concert tours throughout Europe. In 1816 he writes a virtuoso septet. This quickly becomes the talk of the town of Vienna. ‘Did you hear it? Spectacular!’ After that, the piece fanned out to far beyond the borders and stayed a classic big hit for decades.
