Acoustic Roots’ activities are currently at a standstill due to the Covid-19 measures, as well. Fortunately, we have a treasure trove full of gems to choose from: today, an encore for Samira’s Blues.
Samira’s Blues was invited to perform at Podium Oost Utrecht, where they played magnetising North-African spirituals and originals in Arabic, Tamazight and French.
Samira Dainan follows her ancestors’ nomadic trail, living in Morocco’s Sahara, attending ceremonies in the Atlas Mountains and the Sous, and getting carried away during Gnaoua Lila (nights) in Essaouira.
In Amsterdam, she writes and composes animated songs for her band, and guitarist Bas Gaakeer makes the arrangements.
Compilation:
Samira Dainan: vocals
Bas Gaakeer: acoustic guitar + backing vocals
Karim Darwish: Djembé and Darbouka
Hassan Aït-Moumad: bass + backing vocals
She previously released an EP: Samira’s Blues EP – Ya Baba – (Digital – Audiomaze)
