Mikhail Glinka III
Today, the third and last episode with works of ‘the father of Russian music’, Mikhail Glinka. He lived from 1804 to 1857, and was the first composer to base his compositions of operas and other music on Russian themes. With this, he greatly influenced his colleagues such as Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov. In this hour, you hear chamber music and songs of Glinka, and a symphony.
