In our programme De Wandeling (the stroll) we will continue exploring the astonishing colourful oeuvre of the Englishman Frank Bridge (1879-1941). As a composer, he could turn his hand to anything; he wrote a lot for string quartets, a medium he knew inside out because he played the viola in several string quartets. His most famous student, Benjamin Britten, based variations on a theme of Bridge. That work became Britten’s breakthrough.
