The English composer Frank Bridge (1879-1941) was all-round, and his stylistic development was absolutely bewildering. The horrors of WWI played the leading part in it. In this broadcast, we hear his deeply sad Lament for Catherine. But we also hear more light-hearted stuff, such as Two Poems and Two English Songs. We conclude with three subtle songs.
