We’ve almost finished walking with Wölfl. He experiences the highlight of his fame in London. Along with being the best paid composer and piano teacher around, he still performs three times a week. Sadly, his health starts declining and he passes away in 1812.
We will be playing a selection of the many piano sonatas he composed in London, including an amazing virtuoso, nicknamed “Non plus ultra”, meaning “to the limit”
Joseph Wölfl: Piano sonata in C major op. 33 no. 1
Piano sonata in D minor op. 33 no. 2
Jon Nakamatsu, piano
Joseph Wölfl: Piano sonata op, 41 ‘Non plus ultra’
Margit Haider-Dechant, piano
