Chamber music by Schubert – Trockne Blumen
The main focus in this episode is on Schubert’s Variations for violin and piano (originally flute and piano) on a song from his cycle Die schöne Müllerin: ‘Trockne Blumen’. You will hear both the song (performed by baritone Christian Gerhaher and pianist Gerold Huber) and the variations (played by violinist Gidon Kremer and pianist Oleg Maisenberg).
In addition, you will hear two unknown early works for wind instruments: an unfinished Octet and a Nonet, both from 1813.
