An Early Evening Stroll

tue 14 oct 2025 19:00 hrs

In this episode, we immerse ourselves in the world of Mel Bonis (1858 – 1937), a French composer with an extensive oeuvre.

It was clear from a young age that Bonis was extremely talented, but the conservative environment around her led her to abandon her work for many years. She started composing again and became very successful more than 10 years after she was forced to leave the conservatory. We’ll hear works by Bonis, as well as works by her contemporaries César Franck (1822 – 1890) and Camille Saint-Saëns (1835 – 1921).
