Podcast on Bach. Episode 22: Eduard and Ria van Hengel.
Because of the holidays, we have had to change our frequency a little. Therefore, we have paused our follow-up story, “On a journey with Bach”. We will pick it up again in the next issue.
This episode features a special conversation with Eduard and Ria van Hengel. Eduard van Hengel’s website, with a lot of information about the vocal works of Johann Sebastian Bach, is a real treasure trove for lovers of cantatas and Bach’s Passions.
His wife Ria van Hengel has translated the texts of countless cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach into Dutch. Ria tells about her approach and Eduard leads us through fragments and the separate cantata parts along with cantata “Du Friedefürst, Herr Jesu Christ”, BWV 116 and dissects this cantata.
A fascinating tale. Check his website right here, with everything about BWV 116.
