Between Swing and Bop

sat 31 oct 2015 15:00 hour
Genre: Swing

Baritone saxophonist Pepper Adams (1930-1986) started on the tenor sax before he learned how to play the baritone. His own style and sound deviated from famous baritone players from those days, like Harry Carney and Gerry Mulligan. Recordings from 1957 with his own quintet and with alto saxophonist Sonny Redd. In 1958 he made his first album with trombone player Jimmy Knepper.
