Today we will once again focus on Ralph Vaughan Williams. In the broadcast of February 19th, Job was on the program. Today, we will hear the first six parts of The Pilgrim’s Progress.
The Pilgrim’s Progress is an opera based on John Bunyan’s allegory of the same name from 1678. Much of the music may sound familiar to you as Vaughan Williams also used it in his 5th symphony. The performance is conducted by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir under the direction of Adrian Boult (a friend and great admirer of Williams’ music). The pilgrim is sung by John Noble.
