Eccentric ensembles, music that embraces mystery: the Czech master Miloslav Kabelác.
The music of Czech composers from the last century is generally characterised by a rich use of folkloristic themes. But this is certainly not the case with Miloslav Kabelác. Kabelác was a contemporary of Martinů and Janáček, yet he composed in a far more modern style. Apart from a few symphonies, he opted for unusual ensembles and was not averse to the prominent use of percussion.
