Combinations from the 1940s and 50s
In the 1930s trombone player Vic Dickenson (1906-1984) mainly worked in the big bands of, among others, Benny Moten and Claude Hopkins. After that he played in Boston for a long time. At the end of the 60s he formed a successful quintet with cornet player Bobby Hackett. In 1976, with ‘Trombone Cholly’, he made a special album around a few well-known renderings of blues singer Bessie Smith.
