Bonum Est: a programme on Gregorian Chant. A 15th century Maria Office from Hamburg.
In the 28th episode Bonum Est you will hear antiphons and responsories from the Matins of the 15th century Maria Office of Hamburg.
Besides the manuscript, the so-called ‘Hufnagel’ (‘Horseshoe’) manuscript, the music probably also originates from 15th century Hamburg. The music does not show in other manuscripts. Theme is the suffering of Mary whilst standing at the cross where her son Jesus has been crusified. Performance is done by the ensemble Amarcord.
