On the day that the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 was supposed to take place, we go back to the early years of this spectacle, when it was still dominated by the French language.
From 1956 to 1965 seven of the winning songs were in French. We’ll play those of course, but you’ll also hear the forgotten Fud Leclerc, who participated no less than four times for Belgium (still a record). And also music by Alain Barrière, Lys Assia, Michèle Arnaud, Paule Desjardins, André Claveau, Jean Philippe, François Deguelt, Jacqueline Boyer, Jean-Claude Pascal, Colette Dereal, Isabelle Aubret, Françoise Hardy, Guy Mardel and France Gall, who participated for France, Switzerland, Monaco and Luxembourg.
