The American Lud Gluskin (1898-1989) wanted to be a musician, became a fighter pilot in WW I, became a drummer with Paul Whitman after that war and came to Europe in 1924. He made recordings in Berlin and had his own orchestra in Paris in 1927. In 1928 he returned to Berlin with his orchestra and stayed in Europe for some time.
