Old style Jazz. Perry Bradford provided the first recordings on record of a black (blues) singer hundred years ago. The singer was Mamie Smith.
It was a mega success both for Smith and Bradford. In this episode, you hear Bradford’s later instrumental recordings. In this period of time, enthusiasts in the Netherlands started collecting jazz records. André van Roon was one of those pioneers, and one of the first people to start systematically building up knowledge about jazz musicians and their recordings.
