On 25 February, Bart van Dongen (piano) played his programme “The Kitchen Sessions’ in De Witte Dame, Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
Bart van Dongen is initiator of various projects which all have one thing in common: a quest for new music or, at least, new sounds. A year ago, in the gallery Achter de Kan in Den Bosch, the Netherlands, where cooking classes also take place, he recorded the CD "The Kitchen Sessions", with piano improvisations. In a (musical) kitchen you can cook to your heart’s content with all the improvisational power you can muster and that is exactly what Bart van Dongen has done. Without holding back, he shows you what he is capable of and on top of it adds a nice and tasty fantasy in his play.
