Guitar player Vieux Farka Touré from Mali and pianist and superstar Idan Raichel from Israel met each other on a German airport in 2008. This chance meeting led to a musical friendship that resulted in The Touré-Raichel Collective. They released the Tel Aviv Session CD in a relatively short time, and toured with it in Dutch music halls.
The music they produce together can sound meditative, the pianist and the guitar player interweave their sounds into a natural flow, for example in the Le Niger song, in which you can almost hear the flowing of the river itself.
All that while Veux Farka Touré is also quite capable of rocking out on his electric guitar, and Idan Raichel has a history in the world of pop.
They are accompanied by Soleymane Kane on bass and Amit Carmeli, percussion.
