By the end of the 70s, singer Khaira Arby was one of the first Malian women to have a breakthrough in the Malian music scene. With her powerful voice and stage performance she gained worldwide recogition. She´s called ´Queen of Desert Blues´ and justly so.
Khaira Arby is a cousin of the famous Malian singer/guitarist Ali Farka Touré. Like Touré, Arby uses traditional songs and melodies which she changes to create new pieces.
