You will be listening to a concert the Atlas Ensemble gave for the Atlas Festival 2014 called Vergezichten (Views) on 6 September 2014 at the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ. The Atlas Ensemble presented a vibrating intercultural musical feast.
Composers and musicians from the Far East, Central Asia, the Middle East and Europe play traditional music from all corners of the earth on their beautiful instruments and provide a long strings of colourful premieres. For those whole love surprises, the Atlas Ensemble gives an adventure. The music from this evening comes from the summery Atlas Academy. In August of 2014, composers and instrumentalists from all over the world came together at the Amsterdam Conservatoire. The result: a programme of premieres for unique instrumental combinations from different cultures, written by composers with various backgrounds. The Atlas Ensemble is under the direction of Artjom Kim and consists of: Duruba Ghosh, sarangi; Nizar Rohana, ud and Harrie Starreveld, Shakuhachi.
