Concerts from around the country, recorded by Concertzender (World Music).
Live-recordings by Chouk Bwa Libète during the Africa-festival in Hertme on 4 July 2015.
Chouk Bwa Libète is a Haitian band, which makes traditional roots music (in Kreyòl it is called ‘mizik rasin’).
Chouk Bwa Libète means literally “trunk of the tree of liberty”.
The genre “mizik rasin” developed in the 1970s when Haitian musicians drew on the roots of the voodoo culture.
The core of this music lies in the essential elements of the Haitian Voodoo: rhythms, songs and dances.
