Houtfestival Haarlem 2014: Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band. And from 2017: Ornina Ensemble.
On 13 June 2014, Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band performed at the Houtfestival. This band came into being after the legendary Paradise Bangkok session of DJs Maft Sai and Chris Menist, who are well-known from the “The Sound of Siam’ compilations on Soundway Records. They also released CDs on their own Paradise Bangkok label.
This band plays old Molam (folk from the rural northeast of Thailand), with a very dance-able 21st-century vibe. Or: “renaissance of Thai psychedelic folk”.
The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band consists of Kammao Perdtanon on the phin (Thai lute), Sawai Kaewsombat on the khaen (kind of mouth organ of bamboo), Phusana Treeburut on drums.
