Live recordings of chamber music from the classical period: Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven.
Today, the programme Concertzender Live consists of great works of chamber music from the classical period. Three world-class ensembles will perform beautiful music for you. Haydn’s String Quartet in F minor from his Op. 20, is actually the start of the genre that captivated almost all composers from later centuries. Here, it is played by the world-famous Quatuor Mosaïques. Haydn founded the basis of an intelligent conversation without words, that many would see as a source of inspiration for their composing. First of all, this was true for Mozart, who with his Divertimenti – but mostly his six string quartets – dedicated to Haydn who brought the genre to a higher level. The grandiose Chiaroscuro Quartet plays the String Quartet in E-flat major, KV 428. A true masterpiece! And of course, this is also true for Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 74. To conclude our programme, we will listen to the Piano Quartet in G minor, KV 478. It is performed by musicians of the Van Swieten Society. They also play on old instruments or copies of those.
