Concertzender Live

Concerts from around the country, recorded by Concertzender

Two hours of Concertzender Live Klassiek filled with chamber music and songs.

Sandwiched between fine works in small ensembles by Hoffmeister and Beethoven we find a beautiful Schubert recital by star soprano Carolyn Sampson and pianist Joseph Middleton. The Van Swieten Society will be performing the unknown piano quartet by Hoffmeister, a not so brilliant contemporary of Mozart, and the young Beethoven, who steals the show at the end of the programme with his op.1 no.2: the piano trio in G major. Truly a masterpiece.

And in between, a recital from the small hall of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam from 2017. Alternately, you will hear known and unknown works by the great song composer, Franz Schubert. Carolyn Sampson fills the hall with her beautiful voice and she is wonderfully accompanied by one of today’s top song accompanists: Joseph Middleton.
