An educational programme with early music. Forgotten treasures of Europe, part 1. Besides unknown European composers from the baroque and classical periods, you can also hear well-known names with unknown works. In part 1, unknown Dutch composers such as Hellendaal and Van Wassenaer.

In this Documento: part 1 of Forgotten Treasures of Europe, a series of about 20 parts with unknown music by well-known and, particularly, unknown composers.
We begin in the Netherlands with music by Pieter Hellendaal and count Unico Wilhelm van Wassenaer (see picture).
Van Wassenaer scrupulously kept his composing a secret, as it was seen as far beneath the dignity of a count. Hellendaal remained unknown in the Netherlands, probably because his works were mainly popular and released in England.
More info about this series can be found on the weblog Early Music.
