PICK & MIX is a series of Esc.rec. catalogue deep dives by DJ. This is the fourth result, carefully selected and constructed by Lucija Gregov.
Lucija Gregov is a cellist, improviser and sound artist whose work describes and explores new sonic landscapes. Her visceral approach to improvisation proposes a distinctive way of creating, co-creating, thinking and performing in and about current sonic dynamic. She has been developing projects and researching in the field of classical music, electro acoustic music, noise, improvisation, experimental music, radio and sound art, as well as community art. In her work as a programmer and curator of music events, she tends to search for creative solutions that can enable expansion of the concept, form and context in which sound work is being realized. Lucija has curated sound based events for label Futura Resistenza and venues such as Roodkapje and Worm in Rotterdam, NL. She is also part of the Esc.rec. catalogue herself, with a track by Hydra Ensemble.
Label owner Harco Rutgers: “The downside of having a large label catalogue is that older releases tend to disappear from the public eye. A shame really, because there is so much excellent stuff hidden away in there. That’s why I decided to ask several people who are more or less familiar with the label to dig deep and make a mix of their favourite Esc.rec. tracks.”
Lucia Gregov: “I just really enjoyed browsing through the catalogue, listening to artists whose work I already know and then also discovering some (to me) new gems! I put together the tracks that resonated with me.”
