Electronic Frequencies

Today, a small selection of work by The Orb. The Orb are a long-running UK electronic group, formed by Jimmy Cauty and Alex Paterson in 1988. The project grew out of a shared love of ambient music and dub, as well as soundscapes and science fiction.

The Orb became pioneers of the “ambient house” genre that emerged in the early 1990s. The group’s lineup has changed considerably over the years, with Alex Paterson remaining the only constant member.

The curator of this episode has a particular fondness for Paterson’s work with Thomas Fehlmann, so most of the tracks featured here were produced by the two of them.
