Conjunto Folklórico Salteño
This time we are not doing a tango, but folklore from Argentina. They were compared to The Beatles; the difference was that The Beatles were leading the ‘música popular’, while Los Fronterizos were leading the ‘música folklórica’. With the ‘Misa Criolla’ by Ariel Ramírez they wrote history worldwide, but this Misa represents only a fraction of their enormous repertoire. This is the story about four schoolboys with a hobby and each with a different future who grew to be true folk heroes and representatives of the ‘música national’. The Concertzender will devote elaborately on this subject in a five part musical documentary.
The first part of this ‘overview’ of their almost 50 year existence, which was broadcasted on 4 March 2016, can still be listened to. The link can be found here
The remaining parts cover a certain period. Part five for instance gives an image of the last period, in which desperately was attempted to maintain the legendary first 25 years. Today part two, the first years: June 1953 until June 1959. The ensemble consisted then of: Gerardo Ramón López, Juan Carlos Moreno, Eduardo Madeo and Carlitos Barbarán. The last one was followed up by César Isella after three years. Next month, part three about the beginning of their Philips years.
