Los Fronterizos, Conjunto Folklórico Salteño, episode 4 (of 5)

No, this time there will be no tango, but folklore from Argentina. They were compared to The Beatles; only, The Beatles reached the top of the ‘música popular’, while Los Fronterizos reached the top of the ‘música folklórica’. With the ‘Misa Criolla’ of Ariel Ramírez they wrote history (worldwide), but this Misa represents only a fraction of their enormous repertoire. How four schoolboys with a hobby and each a different future ahead of them could turn into true folk heroes and representatives of the ‘música national’.

The Concertzender will pay elaborate attention to them in a five-part musical documentary. The first part is an ‘overview’ of their almost 50-year existence, which was broadcasted on 4 March 2016 and can still be listened to. The remaining parts cover a certain period of time. Part five, for instance, sheds light on the last period, in which they desperately try to maintain the first legendary 25 years.

Part two and three were broadcasted on 3 May and 7 June.

Today part 4. The years 1966 until 1975. César Isella has left and his place has been taken by the young Yayo Quesada. The ensemble consists now of the following members: Gerardo Ramón López, Juan Carlos Moreno, Eduardo Madeo and Yayo Quesada. Their successes continue unabatedly. In a month, part 5, the last part. What happened when the ensemble fell apart? They still continued, but then differently….
