“THE MELODY QUEEN” of India “SPECIALS” (2nd part)
After the enormous success of the 1992 CD ‘Shraddanjali’ ‘Tribute to the Immortals’ on which living legend Lata Mangeshkar sings the songs of colleagues and predecessors, preparations were immediately made for a sequel, a double-CD even. The first CD contained only songs sung by men, while of course there were also many female colleagues, playback- or popular classical singers who had made a name for themselves. Just look at Lata’s sisters, especially Asha Boshle. Indian audiences, as well as millions of fans from surrounding countries, loved the fact that Lata re-recorded famous songs from the past, some 50 years old, using modern recording techniques.
In this program we’ll first play Lata’s re-recording from 1994, followed by the original.
