Forty-five years ago the album Five Leaves Left was released, the debut album of British singer-songwriter Nick Drake. You will hear this album, but not in what is known as the final version. By broadcasting alternative recordings and versions you will hear how the album would have sounded.
We will play bold demos of his first songs and outtakes which did not get included on the final masterpiece. After his early death on the 25th of November 1974, one song was discovered and finalised in the style of the album. And we have a recently published but never released song of Nick Drake.
During his life, the British musician was more or less ignored. His talent and brilliant music were not recognised, partly due to the fact that he was not a person who wanted to promote his music by doing live concerts. His creations and Drake himself were too intimate and introvert. In the 1980s he was rediscovered and he grew out to become a cult figure. Since then, more music and publications were released than during his short career life.
