Soul Jazz from the 50s, 60s and 70s.
Today was the first episode of a three-part portrait of organist Don Patterson. Patterson was a prolific musician for the Prestige Label from 1964 onward. You will hear recordings with saxophonists Booker Ervin and Sonny Stitt and the guitarists Vinnie Corrao and Paul Weeden. And, of course, Patterson’s drumming best friend, Billy James.
