Tenor saxophone player Clifford Jordan (1931) was born and bred in Chicago which made him sound differently from the tenors from Texas. In 1957 he recorded 3 albums with his characteristic qualities: traces of rhythm & blues, a warm malleable sound and active phrasing. When he turned his back to Chicago at the age of 26 his style continued to develop.
