Tenor saxophone player Teddy Edwards (part 3)
At the age of seventy he made a memorable album assisted by his ten year younger colleague Houston Person, piano player Richard Wyands, bass player Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington. Horn to Horn (Muse) which was recorded in December 1994 is a tribute to eight tenor legends including Coleman Hawkins, Dexter Gordon, Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis and John Coltrane.
A few days earlier dynamo Teddy Edwards was in de studio for Tango in Harlem (Verve-Gitanes): a concentrated exploration through a dozen compositions only supported by bass player Christian McBride and drummer Billy Higgins.
