Theme: New CD “The Jazz Influencers” from
Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw.
In 1996, The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw (JOC) was founded as New Concert Big Band with director/arranger Henk Meutgeert and is called Koninklijk Concertgebouw since 1999. Henk Meutgeert now has his own big band, together with Peter Beets and has made way for Rob Horsting and Dennis Mackrel, the new leaders of this famous orchestra, which still consists of top musicians.
This new album, which was recorded just before Corona, in the early spring of 2020, is an ode to young musicians and composers who have written special works for this orchestra. A few names: Ben van Gelder, Joris Roelofs, Tineke Postma, and Morris Kliphuis. These jazz people all contributed to a wonderful CD. Arrangements of arranger Rob Horsting and some of the musicians themselves.
