The American alto saxophone player Phil Woods (1931), part 2. At the end of the sixties he settled in Europe where he frequently performed with his “European Rhythm Machine” which consisted of George Gruntz – piano, Henry Texier – bass and Daniël Humair – percussion. In 1969 they gave a crackling concert at the festival in Montreux. In 1973 Woods returned to the US and recorded an album with the trio of piano player Jaki Byard the following year.
