The American tenor saxophone player and postman Buck Hill (1927), part 2.
For years he was overshadowed by his colleagues like Dexter Gordon, Johnny Griffin and Sonny Rollins but at the end of the seventies he broke through and rightly so. After successful albums in 1978 and 1979 the ‘wailing mailman’ was invited to the North Sea Jazz Festival in 1981. We can listen to this performance on a splendid double CD.
