JazzNotJazz

In JazzNotJazz, we create a unique mixtape from 100 years of Jazz recordings, combined with relevant, or sometimes not-so-relevant facts. The focus of this program is The Soul of Jazz, so we will most definitely deviate to associated genres. We also have some infrequently recurring segments such as “De Niet Platgespeelde Standard” (The Unplayed Standard), “Ellington Train Songs,” “Jazz Cameos,” and “More is Better.”

In today’s episode: two songs from two new albums by contemporary greats. Actually, maybe three or four greats. Two solid Bass Hits. Miles Davis is extensively featured, including a Jazz Cameo. And surprisingly, on a relatively late album by Miles, we experience the magic between Miles and Gil Evans once again! A surprising tune from one of the most unassuming studio guitarists. And a French artist smoothly transitions us to the next program.
