Popular music from Algeria.
Algeria ia a country with lots of different and rich musical traditions. We will listen to examples of popular music from the 1960’s to the 1990’s. Including the following genres: the music of the city Algiers called Sja’abi, the Hawwaz (popular version of classic Arabo-Andalusian singing), the Kabylie song from the east of the country and the Chiekh’s and Rai music from the west. With among others, Nouri Koufi, Dahmane El Harachi, Salwa, Sliman Azem, Idir, Cheich Meftah, Khaled (Chaled).
