Episode #25 is about the Russian piano player and composer Nicolaj Medtner, who lived from 1880 to 1952, roughly the same period as Rachmaninov. Both as a piano player and as a composer he did not strive to becoming world famous. Rachmaninov found Medtner a better pianist and a better composer than himself. You will hear Medtner’s compositions, performed by the piano players Benno Moiseivitsch and Geoffrey Madge.
