“Mariama”, a programme with African music. AFRO-LATIN.

It is common knowledge and assumed that Latin and Caribbean music and ‘western’ musical styles like blues and jazz have been highly influenced by the African music culture. That Latin and Caribbean music for its part has left tracks in African music is for much western people much less known. So you don’t have to cross the ocean for good ‘latin’. More than that, in my humble opinion it is better to look for it in Africa. I find Afro-latin music, that mostly combines Latin/Caribbean styles, often to be less macho in its execution, more subtle in composition and just as swinging. Anyway, just listen for yourself.
