A short history of the piano concerto, part 6: Reger and Scriabin compose on a grand and even grander scale.
At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, the Romantic piano concerto reached its absolute boiling point. While innovators such as Bartók were already using the piano like a hammer, the late Romantics continued to cling to the piano as the voice of the soul.
We will listen to the highly individual musical worlds of Scriabin and Reger.
