The legendary Lebanese singer Fayrouz and her son Ziad Rahbany.
Fayrouz, the legendary Lebanese singer that by now reached the age of 75, released a new album (Eh Fi Amal, October 2010). The music of this album is like most of her work in the pas 30 years written and/or scored by her son Ziad Rahbany. On the occasion of this we travel through the history of their musical collaboration since the seventies until today.
Fayrouz was born as "Nihad Haddad" in 1935. She started her professional career in the early fifties and then took on the stage name Fayrouz (Fairuz, Feyouz) (‘the turquoise’). She married in 1955 with composer and songwriter Assy Rahbany who, together with his brother Mansour, formed the musical duo the Rahbany Brothers. The Rahbanys took care of the lyrics and music of Fayrouz. Ziad, the first son of Fayrouz and her husband Assy was born in 1956 and started writing music around 1973. Besides his own albums and music theatre he also wrote music for his mother.
