Missa etcetera

thu 3 jun 2021 22:00 hour
Composer: Andrea Gabrieli

Western religious music from different centuries. This episode is fully dedicated to Adrian Willaert (approx. 1490-1562), he was born in Flanders, but he had a career in Italy. He was Kapellmeister at the San Marco from 1527 until his death.

Adrian Willaert is seen as the inventor of polychoral music; this would become a distinctive feature of the Venetian style. In this episode, we’ll listen to eight motets in a somewhat more modest format for four to seven voices.
