Missa etcetera

thu 4 nov 2021 22:00 hour

Western religious music from different centuries.

This episode focuses on two French composers from around 1700: François Couperin and André Campra.

We hear so-called ‘petits motets’ from both composers, spiritual works for solo voices and accompaniment. These pieces are among the lesser-known works by these composers. They are also rarely heard in concerts, which provides a good reason to bring them to your attention.

2. Regina caeli laetare
3. Domine salvum fac Regem
4. Ad te levavi oculos meos
5. Motet de Saint Augustin

(cd: “Plaisir sacré – Música religiosa de François Couperin y obras instrumentales de su tiempo” – Itinerant Records iE001, 2014)

André Campra (1660-1744)

7. Beati omnes
