Missa Etcetera

thu 29 jan 2026 22:00 hrs

Religious music. In this episode we listen to music by Johann Adolf Hasse, Jan Dismas Zelenka and Johann David Heinichen, composers who shaped the impressive musical profile of the Dresden court and brought the grandeur of its church music to life.

In the 18th century, the royal chapel of the Dresden court was regarded as one of the leading musical centres in Europe. At this Roman Catholic court, many internationally renowned musicians were active, whose sacred music stands out for its splendour, expressiveness and craftsmanship. In this hour we will hear a cantata by Johann David Heinichen, a motet by Johann Adolf Hasse, and a mass by Jan Dismas Zelenka.
