Which musician/composer/arranger is better known abroad than in the Netherlands and is always wearing a hat?
Martin Fondse (born on the island Tholen in the province of Zeeland, the Netherlands, in 1967) is a pianist, composer, arranger, conducter and vibrandeonist. He composed works varying from solo parts to compositions for symphony orchestras and won many international prizes for his orchestra work, but also for his film music. As a composer/arranger he worked with artists such as Pat Metheny, Doudou N’Diaye Rose,Vernon Reid, George Duke, Christina Branco, Eric Vloeimans, Ernst Reijseger and Gino Vannelli. He received composition assignments for orchestras such as het Concertgebouw Orkest, Holland Symfonia, Limburgs Symfonisch Orkest, HR Big Band Frankfurt, Jazz Orchestra van het Concertgebouw, de Meridian Arts Ensemble and the Metropole Orkest. Music of Martin was also played at the North Sea Jazz Festival, Holland Festival, Nederlandse Muziekdagen and the Haagse Muziek Driedaagse.-
