Tineke Postma (Heerenveen 1978) is a very active and widely acclaimed saxophonist. Since 2006, the Tineke Postma Quartet (Marc van Roon, Frans van der Hoeven and Martijn Vink) has played on many international stages and festivals in the Netherlands, Europe and Japan. Founded in 2009, the Tineke Postma International Quartet (Geri Allen, Scott Colley en Terri Lyne Carrington) has played, among others, in the Barbican Hall in London, on the North Sea Jazz Festival (Rotterdam) and in the Blue Note jazz club in New York.
Tineke has published five CDs and a DVD. Her CD “For the Rhythm featuring Terri Lyne Carrington ” (2005) was in the top 20 van de Jazz Week Chart for three weeks and was played by more than 250 radio stations. In 2011 she received an Edison for her album The Dawn of Light.
She played together with musicians like Wayne Shorter, Dianne Reeves, Esperanza Spalding, the Dutchmen Han Bennink and pianists Jasper van ‘t Hof and Rob van Bavel. The Downbeat Poll for Rising Stars 2012 put Tineke on number 5 as soprano saxophonist (Rising Star) and number 10 on alto saxophone.
