Interview with a Dutch jazz musician. Eric Ineke (Haarlem, 1947) started his career in the 60’s. In 1969 he recorded his first record with tenor saxophone player Ferdinand Povel.
Over the years, he played with Dutch musicians like the Rein de Graaff/Dick Vennik Quartet, Ben van den Dungen, Jarmo Hoogendijk and Piet Noordijk, and with international legends of jazz like Dexter Gordon, Johnny Griffin, George Coleman, Dizzy Gillespie and Dave Liebman.
He recorded many albums and played on several international festivals. He has been the drummer of the Rein de Graaff Trio for 35 years, since 2006 he has his own hard-bop quintet, Eric Ineke JazzXpress. With that quintet he played a number of concerts, including in the States, with singer Deborah Brown and others.
Eric Ineke teaches at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague and has given master classes all over the world. In April 2012, he co-wrote the book ‘The Ultimate Tideman’ with Dave Liebman.
